Over the span of five years and two agencies, I was able to work for my favorite sports team and haven't stopped talking about it since. I tailored all the advertising to hardcore baseball fans otherwise known as Cardinals fans.
It was humbling to write this simple memorial in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on behalf of the Cardinals in honor of Stan Musial upon his passing.
Did you know that the Cardinals are the only birds that fly south during the spring? Well, besides the Orioles and Blue Jays. And we joined them to make some TV ads.
My ad headlines ran in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, competing with column headlines written by the best sportswriters in the country. So, when one of those sportswriters tweeted his praise for a line I'd written, it felt as good as winning any award.
The full-color billboards were written to their ongoing tagline, "Play like a Cardinal."
